Project Goal
Logo Design: Creation of brand logos based on custom artwork, with up to three creative directions
for review.
Label Design: Development of print-ready labels (US + UK) for commercial bottle use, delivering two
initial creative directions. Must include the provided custom painting by Jacobo Roa
Iconography: Custom icons for brand application (quantity TBD).
Audience
Those interested in a unique artisanal mezcal with a story and authenticity. MZL is the casual and fun counterpart to the higher end El Cabrón Mezcal; both are under the umbrella of Casa Cabrón.
Process
1. Concept exploration of label and logo design......sketches, colors, reference images
2. Creation of 2 label design directions and 3 logo directions for review
3. Follow chosen directions to label creation with client review
4. Delivery of final print and SVG file
The resulting project process diverted slightly from the original planned process above. I worked closely with the main stakeholder to create a multitude of brand assets with a range of changes due to product needs and industry regulations.

Final Logo and Iconography
Taken from the original artwork, the icons and logo style are versatile and indicative of handcrafted art and stamps. The MZL logo uses stars from the painting to balance the empty space of the L. Also from the painting the brands icon is an is the isolated Chamuco head.

Logo Exploration
The logo comes from a hand-drawn roughened version of the label font, this in combination with the icons taken from the labels original artwork, becomes stamp or brand like to represent the playful and bold feeling the brand wishes to evoke.
